COVID-19 cases take another jump in PG local health area

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) is reporting another weekly increase in new COVID-19 infections for the Prince George local health area.

Between January 9th and 15th, there were 565 cases reported in the area. The week before (January 2nd to 8th), there were 402.

The BCCDC’s latest data shows 74% of people 70 and older in the Prince George local health area have now had a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. A week ago, 71% had theirs.

Kids in the area are continuing to get their first doses. 37% of kids in the area between the ages of 5-11 have now had one dose, up from 31% last week.

89% of people of the age of 12 have had at least one dose of a vaccine, a one percent increase from last week. 84% have received a second, no change from one week ago.
