Freedom Convoy to Ottawa arrives in Prince George

Northern BC truckers and supporters of the Freedom Convoy arrived in Prince George this evening (Saturday).

The convoy departed Prince Rupert at around 7:00 this morning, and travelled along the Highway 16 corridor, before the first vehicles in the convoy arrived in Prince George at around 7:45 to stop for the night.

Pamela Rouse, a member of the convoy, greeted people at the rally with hugs, and said they had plenty of support on their drive.

“I am a Canadian citizen, that’s what I know,” Rouse said.

“This isn’t about a vaccine, it isn’t about whether you have one or if I have one, it’s about a vax mandate, and it’s causing segregation and division. The only thing I had to hear on the news one day with my sons, knowing they would hear it, was some Prime Minister who’s supposed to be running this country call me a misogynist, and every other woman behind me that’s supporting their family, called extremists, which is every man, woman and child, because now it’s not just affecting me, it’s affecting men, women, children, we stand for Canada free.”

Rouse said she wanted to make a difference for other people that were undignified.

“It’s one thing to have your job taken away, it’s one thing for others not to be able to pay a hydro bill in the Winter, or buy food, or pay a mortgage or a car payment, because there are real families that this happened to, and it wasn’t because of the vaccine, it’s because mandate. I want to know why, what makes that other individual be able to feed their family and another Canadian starve. Why? That does not make sense to me,” Rouse said.

“I believe we have one single man in our country, creating hatred, and he has proved it in his speech,” Rouse said through tears.

“I’m not going to let this go down without telling every single Canadian that this is not right, and this is not who we are.”

A Go Fund Me page for the convoy has raised almost $2 million as of Saturday night. The money raised will reportedly go towards expenses for drivers in the convoy.

According to the Canada Unity website, the convoy will depart Prince George tomorrow morning at 7:00, and will head to Calgary through Edmonton, before heading eastward to Ottawa.
