Avalanche risk considerable for the long weekend

Avalanche Canada is reporting considerable risk in the North Rockies and Cariboo mountains for the long weekend.

The latest bulletin from Avalanche Canada for both areas says new snow and wind will build reactive storm slabs that may be more sensitive on leeward slopes in the alpine and treeline.

When danger ratings are at considerable, Avalanche Canada says natural avalanches are possible, and human-triggered avalanches are likely. In addition, they could range in size from small in most areas to very large in isolated areas.

The considerable danger rating is forecasted to last until Sunday at all elevations.
