Theatre Northwest calling on local actors to show their skills

Theatre Northwest is holding general auditions next month.

“A general audition means we’re just looking to see who’s in the community and what they’re capable of,” said Artistic Producer Marnie Hamagami.

“So the call is pretty open in the sense that you get tot select your own piece, and if we do any callbacks, those will be for a specific role.”

She compared to the audition to an ‘open tryout’ in sports.

Hamagami says Theatre Northwest is focusing on working with and developing local artists.

“We did that to great success this past December when we hired two local women to perform with us for the Marvelous Wonderettes, and they did a fantastic job,” Hamagami said.

“We’re looking to continue that.”

Hamagami says what people who are interested should sign up for a time through their website and prepare a monologue.

The auditions will be held March 13th.

She added that Theatre Northwest is offering a free audition course to help give prospective actors some information on what they can expect in an audition.
