Canada West basketball:

(First round men’s elimination game in Lethbridge)

Brandon Bobcats  95  UNBC Timberwolves  89

The UNBC men are eliminated and finished the season with an overall record of 6-13.

It was just the third win in 17 games for the Brandon men.

The UNBC women’s basketball team is in Calgary for the 17-team playoff tournament.

The (8-10) Timberwolves open against the (0-16) Brandon Bobcats today at 4:00 p.m. PT.

The winner will move on to the second round against the Regina Cougars on Saturday.

WHL:

The (19-29-2-1) Prince George Cougars host the (15-31-4-1) Spokane Chiefs tonight and Saturday.

The Cougars have dropped their last seven games at CN Centre and are 0-4 on an 8-game homestand.

Prince George is 7th in the Western Conference, one point behind Vancouver and six ahead of Tri-City, Victoria, and Spokane.

The Cougars are 4-21-1-1 against the top five teams in the Western Conference and 15-8-1-0 against the other four teams in the Conference.

Prince George has lost 13 of its last 15 games.

BCHL:

The (25-12-3-8) Spruce Kings, with just six regular-season games left, visit the league-leading Penticton Vees tonight and the West Kelowna Warriors on Saturday before concluding with four home games.

The Spruce Kings have lost five straight following a 20-game point streak.

Prince George is third in the Interior Division, 10 points behind Salmon Arm, and six ahead of West Kelowna.

The Spruce Kings are coming off Wednesday’s 2-0 loss to the Vernon Vipers.

Curling:

The Russians will not be coming to Prince George for the World Women’s Curling Championship from March 19th to 27th.
Thé World Curling Federation has adopted a new rule and excludes Russian Curling Federation entries for the remainder of the 2021–2022 season.

 

BC Elite Hockey League: (AAA)

(U18 Male) 

The U18 Cariboo Cougars conclude their regular season visiting the (24-8-1-1) Vancouver North West Hawks Saturday (11:45 a.m.) and Sunday (11:15 a.m.) in Abbotsford.

The (15-15-1-3) U18 Cougars are 5th out of 10 teams while the (24-8-1-1) Hawks are 2nd.

(U18 Female)

The U18 Female Northern Capitals wrap up their regular season with a pair of games in Vernon on Saturday (11 a.m.) and Sunday (9:30 a.m.) against the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers.

The (21-6-0-3) Capitals are second out of five teams while the (11-17-0-2) Lakers are 4th.

The U17 Cariboo Cougars visit the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds Saturday night at 6:15 and Sunday morning at 10:00 in Abbotsford.

The (14-17-0-1) U17 Cougars are in 7th-place in the 10-team division while the (22-5-1-3) Thunderbirds are 4th.

The U15 Cariboo Cougars host the Okanagan Rockets Saturday night at 5 and Sunday morning at 8:15 at Kin 1.
