Carrier Sekani Family Services collects prestigious hardware

Carrier Sekani Family Services has received some international recognition.

The organization is being recognized by the American National Indian Child Welfare Association with one of two 2022 Champions for Native Children Awards (NICWA).

NICWA’s award recognizes “…exemplary service to Native children and families” and “significant contributions to the well-being of Indigenous children, families, and communities in
the United States or Canada.”

CSFS Executive Director Warner Adam accepted the award virtually during the NICWA’s upcoming 40th Annual Protecting Our Children Conference.

“I am truly honoured to accept this award from a sister organization across the border with a similar mission to aid Indigenous children and families, end abuse and improve child welfare while assisting Indigenous people with culturally relevant supports as they need it.”

“I also see this award as an acknowledgment of the hard work and commitment of our CSFS staff and their collective efforts in protecting children and keeping them connected to their
families, communities, and Carrier cultures,” continued Adam.

In 2020, Carrier Seakni celebrated 30 years of providing holistic wellness services for member nations.
