YMCA Megathon campaign gets ready to sweat for a cause

$10,000 is the goal for this year’s YMCA Megathon that will be held on Saturday (March 12th).

The money raised from the fundraiser will go towards the YMCA’s CommUNITY Campaign.

“This fund was created to support the community from many sides, providing subsidies to the YMCA programs and services for those struggling from financial insecurity, adapting programs and services to be safe and accessible as health guidelines change, and being prepared to support urgent needs as they arise,” said YMCA’s Philanthropy Coordinator Kirstin Plumridge.

She added that they’ll have Facebook live classes as part of the Get Active Challenge.

“And that’s going to look like yoga, zumba, we’re going to have cycle fit every hour from 8AM to 3PM, which you can join.”

With each event that people participate in, they’ll have one entry in to win a Nintendo Switch.

People can access the Get Active checklist online, or at one of the booths that will be set up across Prince George.

“We will be having booths set up at the Prince George Family Y, Active Body Nutrition, and Canadian Tire.”

Each checklist needs to be submitted by Sunday (March 13th).

Donations can be made in person at one of the booths, or on the YMCA website.
