Prince George residents gathered at City Hall for a Peace and Kindness Rally.
“There was a group of us that came together about a month and a half ago,” said, Tori Beram, one of the organizers.
“We were just trying to come up with a way that could show community gratitude, solidarity, peace, and kindness in the midst of a lot of what we were hearing from groups around the country.”
“I think the last two years have been hard on everybody, no matter how the pandemic affected you,” said Jenn Matthews, another Organizer.
“It’s really important that we spend some time full of gratitude for people’s experience, and all the different actions people had to do to protect our community.”
Matthews added that doesn’t necessarily have to be COVID-19 related, and also includes thigs like advocating for vulnerable people in the community.

Beram said there could be more events like this in the future, as today they were “testing the waters.”
“So far it’s been awesome, I was not expecting this many people to show up,” she said.
“It’s a really good reminder that there is still a sense of community and collectivity in Prince George.”
Matthews says she’s been seeing more of that in the community during the pandemic.
“The community organizers who are standing in solidarity with the folks who live in Moccasin Flats, and the advocating that is happening for the under-housed in the community, that’s part of this whole movement,” she explained.
“The University drummers who are drumming for hospital workers, we’re all part of that community standing up for each other.”
