Cigarette butt to blame for Sunday blaze

A cigarette butt is to blame for a devastating fire on the 10,000 block of the Old Cariboo Highway.

Pineview Volunteer Fire Department Chief Lyle Wood says crews were called out at 3:20 Sunday afternoon.

Wood says 36 fire crews from five fire departments helped douse the blaze.

He estimates damages in the range of $100,000 to $200,000.

Wood says two firefighters were checked out by ambulance but other than that there were no serious injuries.
