PG hotels are filling up as World Women’s Curling Championship takes to the ice

The first round robin sessions for the World Women’s Curling Championship kicked off yesterday (Saturday) at the CN Centre in Prince George.

Colin Carson with Tourism PG said this, along with a couple other factors, is bringing people to the city.

“The hotels are definitely getting filled up right now, and that’s exciting to see from a tourism perspective.”

Carson said the past week or two has been a perfect storm for enticing people to come to the northern capital, noting that the Canadian Biathlon Championships, and spring break have also been contributing factors.

“I think we typically do see some folks coming in from the region for spring break, doing some shopping, and going to see some stuff in Prince George.”

Anyone considering making a trip to PG in the near future shouldn’t be too worried about finding a room though, as Carson said there’s still capacity.

“I think that there’s still a variety of rooms available. I know there definitely are properties that don’t have any availability, but I think as long as you’re not stuck to a specific favourite hotel, I think you’d be able to find a room right now in the city.”
