Northern BC home sales below provincial average in April

April was a tepid month when it came to home sales in Northern BC.

The BC Real Estate Association says last month the region six percent growth from April 2014.

Chief Economist Cameron Muir says provincially, home sales were up 28%.

“And the North has kind of lagged along with many other areas of the province this year,” says Muir, “for probably the first time since the recession.”

Muir says the six percent could be a spillover effect from low oil prices and a faltering economy in Alberta that affects consumer confidence.

The real estate association is predicting 94,000 units to be sold by the end of the year.
