PG Legion hosting fundraising dinner to assist Ukrainian refugee families

The Royal Canadian Legion in PG is partnering up with the Share Hope Refugee Sponsorship Committee to assist Ukrainian refugee families who escaped the war-torn country and have settled here.

As a result, a fundraising dinner is being hosted on Sunday at the Legion in support of the committee’s efforts.

2nd Vice-President, John Scott told MyPGNow.com it didn’t take much convincing to help out.

“The legion is a community-based organization and we thought this would be a way to help out our community. We know these people are coming into our community and we should be there for them.”

Scott went to school in Calgary and got to know a lot of Ukrainian families during this portion of his life.

“I know all across the prairies, in particular, there has been a multitude of Ukrainian families so everybody has a connection to them.”

Share Hope has been in PG for nine years and has settled refugee families in our city from countries like Syria.

Tickets are $50.00 each. Guests will enjoy a traditional Ukrainian dinner of perogies, cabbage rolls, sausage, dessert, and all the sides.

A silent auction will also be held.
