Four swap sheds at transfer stations within the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George will re-open this weekend.
Locations in McBride, Valemount, Mackenzie, and Shelley are re-opening on Saturday (April 16th) as these units allow residents to drop off clean, useable items in good condition for other residents to take at no charge.
It provides a way to extend the life of a product for somebody else to use.
“We are pleased to have the swap sheds in operation again at McBride, Valemount, Mackenzie, and Shelley,” said Rachael Ryder, Waste Diversion Program Leader with the Regional District of Fraser-George.
“Swap sheds give new life to usable household items that can find a new home. One person’s junk is another’s treasure so the swap shed is a great alternative to just throwing something away.”
Accepted items include:
• Clothing
• Books
• Toys
• Sporting Goods
• Furniture
Items dropped off should be in clean reusable condition.
Residents in areas not served by Swap Sheds are reminded Thrift Stores may be a good alternative to take clean, usable household items.
