A longtime coach with the Prince George Blizzard Speed Skating Club has been named viaSport’s Community Coach of the Year winner.
Taryn Vansickle has been working with the club for the past 27 years and has worked with many athletes over this time with some of them being named to the Canadian national team.
Vansickle is being recognized for her core values as a coach, which includes a healthy mix of competition and fun in her lesson plans.
She has been known as a fierce cheerleader for her fellow skaters at meets.
In addition, Vansickle has implemented the PG Blizzard Junior Coaching Program, which focuses on mentoring young coaches.
Taryn has also acted as a BC Provincial and Games Zone coach.
Vansickle will receive a $250 bursary from the Bob Bearpark Foundation.
