Portland Winterhawks  2  Prince George Cougars  0

Ex-Cougar Taylor Gauthier blocked 28 shots for his first playoff shutout.

Tyler Brennan made 34 saves for the Cougars, who were outshot 36-28 in front of 1,821 fans at CN Centre.

Gabe Klassen tallied twice in the second period to take care of the scoring.

The Winterhawks lead the best-of-7 WHL Western Conference quarterfinal 3-0 with Game 4 tonight in Prince George.

The Canucks won the game but were officially eliminated from the playoffs when Dallas beat Vegas 3-2 in a shootout earlier in the evening.

It is the 6th time in the last 7 seasons that Vancouver has failed to qualify for the post-season.

The (39-30-11) Canucks host L.A. on Thursday and end with a road game at Edmonton on Friday.

Vancouver is 31-14-8 since Bruce Boudreau took over as coach.

BCHL:

The best-of-7 BCHL Interior and Coastal Conference finals start Friday.

In the Interior, the West Kelowna Warriors visit the Penticton Vees while in the Coastal the opener features the Langley Rivermen at the Nanaimo Clippers.

The two series winners will meet for the Fred Page Cup.

NBA: 

The Raptors-76’ers NBA first-round series is back in Toronto for Game 6 Thursday (4:00 p.m. PT).

Philadelphia leads the best-of-7 Eastern Conference quarterfinal 3-2.

If a 7th game is needed, it will be played Saturday in Philadelphia.

The Raptors are trying to become the first NBA team to ever win a series after losing the first three games.

MLB:

Toronto Blue Jays  6  Boston Red Sox  5  (10 innings)

The Jays erased a 5-2 deficit by scoring three runs in the bottom of the 9th and the winning run in the bottom of the 10th.

The 12-6 Blue Jays host the 7-11 Red Sox again tonight (4:07 p.m. PT).

Toronto is 2-0 on a 10-game homestand.
