Vendors happy for return of ‘Junk in your Trunk’ sale

PG’s Junk in the Trunk garage sale made it’s return to the CN Centre parking lot today (Saturday).

125 vendors lined the lot to sell what the items that have been causing clutter in their homes.

One of the vendors, Renee, has been participating in the sale for three years now.

“I’m glad because me and most people I know, we manage to collect a lot of stuff during the year, and then you’ve got a get rid of it,” she said.

“It’s better than doing a home garage sale, because somebody comes and you can donate all the stuff you don’t sell.”

She added that today was been a bit slower than previous years.

“I think some years there’s been more vendors here, but now that the weathers warmed up we’re getting more people out.”

Another vendor, Cindy Simpson, who owns 4 J’s Rustic Country DĂ©cor and More, set up shop at the event for the first time this year.

“I make a lot stuff out of wood, and up-cycle a lot of stuff, so just bring it our here so everybody can see it, as well as downsizing my own home,” said Simpson.

The event is an initiative done by REAPS and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.

“This is the perfect opportunity to find new treasures. Somebody else’s unwanted stuff may be exactly what you are looking for. As they say, one person’s trash is another’s treasure,” said Rachael Ryder, Waste Diversion Program Leader at the Regional District.
