WHL:

Seattle Thunderbirds  6  Portland Winterhawks  3

The Thunderbirds won the series 4-3 to advance to the Western Conference Final against the Blazers beginning Friday in Kamloops.

Nico Myatovic of Prince George scored the first goal of the game for Seattle.

Former PG Cougar Taylor Gauthier stopped 24 of 29 shots for Portland in the final game of his WHL career.

The Thunderbirds are the 16th team in WHL history to come back from a 3-1 deficit to win a series.

The Prince George Cougars selected a pair of forwards in the 2022 WHL U.S. Priority Draft this morning (Wednesday).

In the first round, 16th overall, the Cougars selected forward Jackson Crowder from the Dallas Stars Elite 14U AAA.

In the second round, 29th overall, Prince George picked forward Christian Plaga from the LA Jr. Kings 14U AAA.

Players eligible for the 2022 WHL U.S. Priority Draft are 2007-born players.

Tomorrow (Thursday) at 9:00 am PT is the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft. The Cougars hold the ninth overall selection.  The Draft can be found at whl.ca/draft
