Exploration Place postpones re-opening due to labour shortages, supply chain issues

The grand re-opening of the Exploration Place in Prince George has been pushed back at least until the fall.

The facility has been closed to the public for the past 26 months due to the pandemic.

Supply chain issues and labor shortages are being cited as the main issues of the delay.

“Obviously, we’ve reviewed every option. At the end of the day, we are an independent charity, and postponing our Grand Re-Opening presents its own set of challenges. However, the right thing to do is to continue going forward and ensure that we honour the vision so that we can properly serve all of our visitors,” said Tracy Calogheros, CEO.

Originally, the re-opening was slated for June 18th – the same date the Little Prince steam engine will kick off another season at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.
