Miracle Theatre raises over $150-thousand with On Golden Pond

The total is in for Miracle Theatre’s On Golden Pond fundraiser.

Director Ted Price says $150,515.03 was raised, greatly surpassing their goal.

“We were surprised,” Price said.

“What we hoped to do was at least equal our last production, which raised $106,000, and that was for the Children of Prince George Fund.”

Price added they weren’t sure what to expect with the restrictions and challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We didn’t dare hope that we would get over $44,000 beyond our last efforts.”

This year, the fund is going to the Prince George Hospice and Palliative Care Society.

“We’ve always been impressed with how the Hospice has served this community, and particularly when two of our friends were in hospice,” Price said.

“It really made us pay attention to the Hospice, so we thought, ‘let’s support the hospice.'”

According to Price, the money raised will go towards a permanent endowment that will be under the management and trusteeship of the Prince George Community Foundation.

22 productions of On Golden Pond were held. 25 were planned, but the last three were cancelled due to a cast member testing positive for COVID-19.

Since it’s first play in 2017, Miracle Theatre has raised over $485,000 for local non-profit organizations.
