Edmonton Oilers  5  Calgary Flames  4  (OT)

Connor McDavid scored at 5:03 of overtime.

The Oilers won the series 4-1 to advance to the Western Conference Final for the first time in 16 years.

Calgary’s Blake Coleman appeared to snap a 4-4 tie with 5:57 left in the 3rd but the goal was waved off after a video review determined Coleman kicked the puck into the Edmonton net.

 

Carolina Hurricanes  3  New York Rangers  1

The Hurricanes lead the series 3-2 with Game 6 Saturday night at 5:00 (PT) in New York. Carolina is 7-0 at home and 0-5 on the road in the playoffs.

There is one Stanley Cup playoff game tonight: the Colorado Avalanche at the St. Louis Blues (5:00 PT) with Colorado ahead 3-2.

WHL:

The WHL Conference Finals resume tonight.

In the West, the Seattle Thunderbirds visit the Kamloops Blazers with the series tied 2-2.

The Thunderbirds pulled even on Wednesday, defeating the Blazers 2-1 as Nico Myatovic of Prince George scored at 11:16 of overtime.

In the East, the Edmonton Oil Kings will battle the Ice in Winnipeg with the Oil Kings in front 3-1.
