PG Symphony Orchestra preparing for final performance of the season

The Prince George Symphony Orchestra will be wrapping up their 2021-22 season on Sunday.

The concert will feature Hometown bassoonist Nadina Mackie Jackson, playing “Odd Bird”, which was composed for her.

“I guess the “Odd Bird” is a bit like a phoenix, so there’s this sense of massive outbursts,” Mackie Jackson said.

“The orchestration is beautiful, it’s strings which is my preferred orchestra, but also with percussion, just hitting it and slashing here and there.”

The season will conclude with Camille Saint-Seans’ ‘The “Organ” Symphony.’

“This is very unusual for a symphony orchestra, you don’t often find, an organ in a symphonic piece,” said PGSO Music Director Michael Hall.

The Concert will take place on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Vanier Hall, with a pre-concert chat starting at 1:00 p.m..
