BC’s police watchdog is taking a closer look at an August 2021 incident in Prince George.
Just after 2 pm on August 19th of that year, a collision involving the female victim’s blue Kia Rio and an RCMP cruiser on Highway 97 near Industrial Way in the Bear Lake area occurred.
According to the Independent Investigations Office (IIO), the victim sustained injuries and emergency crews transported the woman to hospital for treatment.
At the time, it was not believed that the woman’s injuries were serious, thus the IIO was not initially notified.
However, the police watchdog was contacted about the incident last month (April 29th) as the injuries were found to have met the threshold for serious harm.
