Pine Valley Golf Course sees slight rate increase

Pine Valley Golf Centre is owned by the City of Prince George, and the rates for the course were discussed during Monday’s (May 30th) Council meeting.

18 holes for an adult cost $27 last year, and that rate has been raised to $33 for this year, with an outlook of $35 for 2023.

Councillor Brian Skakun said he hopes the City continues to hold on to the course in the future.

“This course is a community gem. There’s been a stronger political willingness to hang on to the course than the sell it over the years, and I hope that holds true for the future.”

Councillor Susan Scott noted that she wanted a bit more information and transparency going forward in the reports given about the golf course.

“I do have a desire going forward, when these kinds of reports come, that we also see some sort of accounting of the costs of operating this facility.”

Councillor Kyle Sampson expressed a desire to have golf for youth at the course become free, noting that he’d seen that same offer at comparable golf courses.

The report to Council noted that these fees are comparable to other golf courses in the area.
