Theatre Northwest hosts pride stage readings

Two stage readings are coming to Theatre Northwest from Canadian LGBTQ2s+ writers.

Julian Legere with Theatre Northwest said it’s the first time they’ve had their artistic leadership team working together.

“There’s a new artistic leadership team in place. So there are three artistic associates, that’s Anna Russell, Melissa Glover, and Bradley Charles, and then there’s also myself and Michelle Cyr who are artists in residence. And we’ve all been in place at the theatre for about a year, and this reading is the first time all of us will be working on a project together.”

The first show, Swollen Tongue, starts on June 25th, and it’s described as a romantic comedy.

The second show is on July 9th, and it’s called Dragonfly.

“The second show, Dragonfly, is a two person show, and their roles are sort of described as fairly interchangeable.”

Dragonfly is being read by both Legere and Cyr, but Legere said they’re leaving a portion of it to chance.

“We’re going to be decide with an audience coin flip on the night of who reads which part, and sort of do it on the fly.”

Tickets can be bought at Studio 2880 or on the Theatre Northwest website.
