Volunteer pilots landing in PG in their travels across Canada

Hope Air is an organization that arranges travel for medical patients across Canada.

Volunteer pilots are flying 5,100 nautical miles across Canada as part of the Give Hope Wings expedition, and YXS is one of the stops on Tuesday (June 7th).

“And we’re just having a breakfast and a rally with our pilots and some patients, talking all about the important work that those donors and others are funding,” said Chief Development Officer for Hope Air Jon Collins.

He noted that the breakfast is not open to the public.

“Healthcare in Canada is universal, but again, many communities in this country lack access to specific specialty care services, and we will help people absorb the financial burden of that by providing free flights and accommodations when they do have to travel for that care.”

Collins noted that many of the people who are taking part in the expedition are also volunteer pilots who have taken time to personally fly people to their medical appointments.

Give Hope Wings is aimed at raising $1 million, with over $484,000 raised so far.
