It’s a dream come true for Cole Waldie.

The local product and former voice of the Prince George Spruce Kings is now the new Director, Broadcasting, Communications & Public Relations of the Prince George Cougars.

He takes over for Fraser Rodgers who is heading back to the Penticton Vees in a similar capacity.

“Cole is a talented, young broadcaster who has local ties, and we feel will fit in seamlessly with our team,” said Cougars’ General Manager & Head Coach, Mark Lamb. “His enthusiasm and dedication stand out and we look forward to him delivering an exciting product to our fans.”

Waldie joins the Cougars after he spent the last three seasons (2019-2022) with the Spruce Kings as the Director of Communications & Broadcasting.

Prior to that he was the Director of Media & Play-by-Play Broadcaster for the Vancouver NE Chiefs in the BC Elite Hockey League. “I could not be happier to join the Prince George Cougars’ family. This is truly a dream come true,” said Waldie, “As a young kid who used to be a season ticket holder and witness the magical playoff run in 2007, working for this franchise, in this capacity, has always been a dream of mine and I can’t wait to get started.”

Among his new responsibilities, Waldie will broadcast all 68 regular-season games plus playoffs for the Cougars starting in September.

The 2022-23 Western Hockey League regular-season schedule will be released in July.
