WHL:

Game 6 in the best-of-7 WHL Championship Series will be played tonight (Monday 6:30 PT) in Edmonton with the Oil Kings ahead of the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2.

The Thunderbirds are 6-0 when facing elimination in this year’s playoffs.

Seattle forward Nico Myatovic of Prince George assisted on the game-winning goal early in the 3rd period.

Edmonton defenceman Carson Golder of Smithers had a goal and an assist.

The WHL champion will advance to the Memorial Cup in Saint John, N.B., June 20-29.

Tampa Bay Lightning  2  New York Rangers  1  (Saturday)

Tampa won the Eastern Conference Final 4-2 to advance to the Stanley Cup Final against the Colorado Avalanche beginning Wednesday night (just after 5:00 PT) in Denver.

Steven Stamkos scored his second goal of the game with 6:32 left in the 3rd period to snap a 1-1 tie.

Golf:

Rory McIlroy scored a two-shot victory at the RBC Canadian Open at St. George’s Golf & Country Club in Toronto.

McIlroy finished at 19-under-par 261 after closing with a 62 for his 21st PGA Tour victory.

Top Canadian Corey Conners placed 6th at 12-under, seven strokes off the pace.

Canadian Brooke Henderson won the Shoprite LPGA Classic in New Jersey for her 11th victory on tour.

Henderson beat Lindsey Weaver-Wright in a playoff.

CFL:

Home teams won all four games in Week 1 of the CFL season.

Week 2 begins Thursday night (4:30 PT) with Montreal at Toronto.

The B.C. Lions do not play again until Week 3 when they host Toronto on Saturday, June 25th (7 PM).

Game 5 in the NBA Finals will be played tonight (Monday just after 6:00) in San Francisco with the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics tied 2-2.

The Celtics (who fell 107-97 in Game 4) after 7-0 in the playoffs following a loss.
