The Oil Kings are WHL champions for the third time (and first in eight years).

They won the best-of-7 final 4-2 to advance to the Memorial Cup in Saint John, N.B., June 20-29.

19-year-old defenceman Carson Golder of Smithers is among the players on the Oil Kings.

The Stanley Cup Final opens with the first two games in Denver.

The Colorado Avalanche host the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning Wednesday and Saturday (just after 5:00 PT).

Tampa has won 11 consecutive playoff series but is the underdog against Colorado.
