NHL: 

The top team in the NHL regular season hosts the two-time defending champions.

The Stanley Cup Final will open tonight in Denver as the Colorado Avalanche entertain the Tampa Bay Lightning (just after 5:00 PT).

Tampa, under head coach Jon Cooper of Prince George, has won 11 consecutive playoff series but is the underdog against Colorado.

Sniper Braden Point returns to the Tampa lineup after missing the last two series with a lower-body injury.

Bruce Cassidy was not out of work long.

The 57-year-old Cassidy, fired last week by the Boston Bruins, has been hired to coach the Vegas Golden Knights.

Cassidy becomes the Golden Knights’ third coach and replaces Peter DeBoer, who was sacked after Vegas missed the playoffs for the first time in its five-year history.

 

WHL:

The Edmonton Oil Kings will represent the WHL at the Memorial Cup in Saint John, N.B., June 20-29.

The Oil Kings are league champions for the third time (and first in eight years).

They beat the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-0 (Monday) to capture the best-of-7 final 4-2.

19-year-old defenceman Carson Golder of Smithers is among the players on the Oil Kings.

17-year-old forward Nico Myatovic of Prince George plays with the Thunderbirds.

Baltimore Orioles  6  Toronto Blue Jays  5

The (36-25) Blue Jays are 1-1 on a 7-game homestand that continues tonight (4:07 PT) against the (27-36) Orioles.

The NBA Finals resume with Game 6 Thursday night (just after 6:00) in Boston.

The Canadian Brewhouse Devils host the Mackenzie Lumberjacks in PG Senior Lacrosse
tonight (Wednesday) at 8:00 at Kin 1.

The Devils are coming off Monday’s 14-6 victory over the BHL Bandits.

 

CFL:

Week 2 of the CFL season begins Thursday night (4:30 PT) with Montreal at Toronto.

The (1-0) B.C. Lions do not play again until Week 3 when they host Toronto on Saturday, June 25th (7 PM).
