SD 57 makes lane change, awards bus contract to First Student Canada

A new bus company will be taking students from School District 57 to and from class starting in September.

The school board awarded the contract to First Student Canada, ending their long-standing partnership with Diversified Transporation.

Assistant Superintendent, Lee Karpenko told MyPGNow.com there were no shortage of suitors.

“Our contract (with Diversified came up), and we extended it a couple of years because of COVID. Our contract came up through the bidding process and we had a few bus companies interested in the contract and the successful one this time was First Student.”

Karpenko added the final decision was made through a committee and a series of reference checks.

In addition, the Board of Education for School District 57 will meet tonight at their Ferry Avenue office.
