Pride Picnic planned for PG in early July

A Rainbow Park picnic event is being held in Prince George in the near future to celebrate Pride in our city.

It’s a joint collaboration between the PG Queer Cafe, Gender Outlines, and the Prince George Sexual Assault Centre.

Queer Cafe Chair, Laura Binette told MyPGNow.com it should be a fun-filled event.

“We will have live music, we are going to have games, we will have food trucks and crafts. So, we are very grateful to be putting this event on.”

Binette added the event will be a good alternative as there will be no Pride Parade this year.

“We think it’s going to be quite a large event. because there is not going to be the traditional pride that PG Pride puts on. We did actually just find out though that the Lutheran Church is going to be doing a car parade so that will be really exciting.”

She mentioned it will be nice to hold a large community event again following the pandemic.

“We were able to put some events on (during the pandemic) but a lot of them we’re at a distance. We didn’t really have that community feel and we weren’t able to actually gather in a space.”

The Pride Picnic is set for July 10th from 4-8 pm.
