Hockey:

The NHL Draft will be held in Montreal starting with round one tonight (Thursday) followed by rounds two to seven on Friday.

Tyler Brennan of the Prince George Cougars is the top-ranked North American goalie by Central Scouting.

A total of five Cougars are ranked.

MLB:

Toronto Blue Jays  2  Oakland A’s  1

The win ended a five-game losing streak for Toronto.

The (45-38) Jays are 1-2 on a 7-game West Coast road trip that continues tonight (Thursday at 7:10) against the (41-42) Mariners in Seattle.

CFL:

Week 5 of the CFL season kicks off tonight (Thursday 6:05 PT) with the (3-0) Calgary Stampeders at the (1-3) Edmonton Eskimos.

The Stampeders are tied with the (3-0) B.C Lions for second place behind the (4-0) Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Lions will host Winnipeg on Saturday (4:05 p.m. start time).

Western teams are a combined 14-4 while Eastern teams are a combined 2-12.

NFL:

The Cleveland Browns traded quarterback Baker Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers in return for a conditional draft pick (either a 4th or 5th round selection in 2024).

The deal is pending a physical.

The Panthers will pay $4.85 million of Mayfield’s salary while the Browns will fork out $10.5 million.

 

Tennis:

The men’s semifinals are set for Friday at Wimbledon.

Second-seeded Rafael Nadal will battle Nick Kyrgios while top-ranked Novak Djokovic will be up against #9, Cameron Norrie of Great Britain.

Nadal won his quarterfinal on Wednesday over American Taylor Fritz, the 11th seed in five sets (taking the 5th set 7-6 in a tie-breaker).

PG Senior Lacrosse: 

The best-of-five final in Prince George Senior Lacrosse will feature the regular-season champion Canadian Brewhouse Devils against the BHL Bandits.

Game one starts Monday night at 8:00 at Kin 1.
