BC Summer Games in search of specific volunteers

The BC Summer games are set to kick off in under two weeks on July 21st, and the push for volunteers is still going strong.

“Four hours or four days, whatever you have available, we would love to have that” says Tracey James, the Games’ Director of Participant and Volunteer Services.

James said as of Friday, the event was closing in on 1,700 volunteers. 3,000 total volunteers are needed for all aspects of the event to be run smoothly.

On top of general volunteers, there are some specific positions that also need to be filled.

Food services and first aid are two of the major areas that need help.

The games kitchen volunteers will be feeding all 3,000 athletes three times a day for the duration of the tournament and will need people to hand out the food as well as prepare it.

James is also calling for volunteers with first aid certifications, from level one through a doctorate, to help the games run safely and smoothly.

If you are interested in signing you or your family up to help, you can find more information here.
