Hockey:
NHL free agency officially started today (Wednesday) at 9:00 a.m. PT as free agents are eligible to sign on the dotted line with teams.
Unrestricted free agents became eligible to talk with teams following the league’s Draft last week.
The Vancouver Canucks signed former Toronto Maple Leafs winger Ilya Mikheyev to a 4-year
deal worth $19 million.
Ex-Toronto goalie Jack Campbell has signed a 5-year, $25 million dollar deal with the Edmonton Oilers.
Evander Kane is staying with the Oilers after signing a 4-year, $20.5 million dollar contract.
The Ottawa Senators and Claude Giroux came to terms on a 3-year contract for $19.5 million.
Goalie Darcy Kuemper, who helped the Colorado Avalanche win the Stanley Cup, is a Washington Capital after signing a 5-year, $26.5 million deal.
Evgeni Malkin remains with the Pittsburgh Penguins after coming to terms on a 4-year contract worth $24.4 million.

The Prince George Spruce Kings will play four exhibition games prior to the start of their season.
The Spruce Kings visit Merritt on September 8th, host Merritt on September 14th, host Salmon Arm on September 15th and visit Salmon Arm on September 17th.

MLB:
The Toronto Blue Jays, who have lost 9 of their last 11, have fired manager Charlie Montoyo.
He is being replaced with Toronto’s bench coach John Schneider for the rest of the season.
The Jays have a record of 46-42.
They host Philadelphia tonight.
The Jays beat the Phillies 4-3 on Tuesday and are 1-0 on a 6-game homestand.
PG Senior Lacrosse:
Game two in the best-of-five final in Prince Geoge Senior Lacrosse will be played tonight (Wednesday) at 8:00 at Kin 1.
The Canadian Brewhouse Devils beat the BHL Bandits 14-11 in the opener on Monday.

Women’s Soccer:
The Canadian women’s soccer team will play Jamaica on Thursday in the semifinals at the CONCACAF Women’s Championship.
The other semi has the United States against Costa Rica.
Canada finished first in Group B with a 3-0 record.
Winning the CONCACAF 8-team tournament comes with a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics and a berth in the inaugural CONCACAF W Gold Cup in 2024.
CFL:
Week 6 of the CFL season starts Thursday (4:35 PT) with the (1-4) Edmonton Eskimos at the (1-3) Montreal Alouettes.
The (5-0) Winnipeg Blue Bombers host the (4-0) Calgary Stampeders Friday night (5:30 PT).
The (3-1) B.C. Lions do not play again until one week from Thursday (July 21st) when they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Western teams are a combined 17-6 while Eastern teams are a combined 2-13.
