Hockey:
The NHL Free Agent frenzy is underway.
Former Calgary Flames sniper Johnny Gaudreau came to terms on a seven-year, $68.6-million contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Vancouver Canucks signed ex-Toronto winger Ilya Mikheyev to a 4-year deal worth $19 million.
Former Toronto goalie Jack Campbell signed a 5-year, $25 million dollar contract with the Edmonton Oilers.
Goalie Darcy Kuemper, who helped the Colorado Avalanche win the Stanley Cup, is a Washington Capital after signing a 5-year, $26.5 million deal.
The Ottawa Senators and forward Claude Giroux came to terms on a 3-year contract for $19.5 million.

In a pair of separate trades, the Carolina Hurricanes acquired 37-year-old defenseman Brent Burns from the San Jose Sharks and 33-year-old forward Max Pacioretty from the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Hurricanes sent forward Steven Lorentz, a prospect goalie (Eetu Makiniemi) and a conditional third-round pick next year to the Sharks for Burns (and forward Lane Pederson).
Burns won the Norris Trophy in 2017 as the NHL’s top defenseman.
The Golden Knights, in a salary dump, sent Pacioretty (and defenseman Dylan Coghlan) to Carolina for future considerations.
Golf:
Rookie American Cameron Young shot an 8-under-64 to take a two-shot lead over Rory McIlroy after the first round at the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews, Scotland.
Tiger Woods struggled to a 6-over-78, leaving him a whopping 14 shots off the pace.

Toronto Blue Jays 8 Philadelphia Phillies 2
It was Toronto’s first game since firing manager Charlie Montoyo and replacing him with bench coach John Schneider.
The (47-42) Jays host the (35-53) Kansas City Royals tonight (Thursday 4:07 PT).
PG Senior Lacrosse:
Canadian Brewhouse Devils 11 BHL Bandits 8
The Devils lead the best-of-five final 2-0 with Game 3 to be played tonight at 8:00 at Kin 1.
(The Devils beat the Bandits 14-11 in the opener on Monday)
CFL:
Week 6 of the CFL season starts tonight (4:35 PT) with the (1-4) Edmonton Eskimos at the (1-3) Montreal Alouettes.
The (5-0) Winnipeg Blue Bombers host the (4-0) Calgary Stampeders Friday night (5:30 PT).
The (3-1) B.C. Lions are off until Thursday, July 21st when they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Western teams are a combined 17-6 while Eastern teams are a combined 2-13.

Women’s Soccer:
The Canadian women’s soccer team will play Jamaica tonight at 7:00 PT in the semifinals at the CONCACAF Women’s Championship.
The other semi has the United States against Costa Rica.
Canada finished first in Group B with a 3-0 record.
Winning the CONCACAF 8-team tournament comes with a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics and a berth in the inaugural CONCACAF W Gold Cup in 2024.
