Hockey:

Former Prince George Cougar Jansen Harkins is staying in Winnipeg.

The 25-year-old Harkins and the Jets have come to terms on a two-year, $1.7 million contract.

MLB:

Toronto Blue Jays  4  Kansas City Royals  2

The Jays are 4-1 since firing manager Charlie Montoyo and replacing him with bench coach John Schneider.

Toronto has a record of 50-43 as of the All-Star break, which is good for 3rd in the AL East.

They are sitting in the 3rd and final wild-card spot, a game behind the (51-42) Seattle Mariners, who have won 14 in a row.

The Jays play their next game Friday night against the Red Sox in Boston.

Golf:

28-year-old Australian Cameron Smith won the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews, Scotland.

Smith closed with an 8-under-64 to finish at 20-under (268), one shot better than American Cameron Young and two ahead of Rory McIlroy.

Women’s Soccer: (in Mexico)

The Canadian women’s soccer team will play the United States tonight (Monday at 7:00 PT) in the final of the CONCACAF Championship.

Both teams are 4-0 in the 8-team tournament with each scoring 12 goals while allowing none.

The winner earns an automatic berth into the 2024 Paris Olympics.

 

CFL:

After six weeks of the CFL season, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are in the top spot with a perfect 6-0 record.

Calgary is next at 4-1 followed by Saskatchewan at 4-2 and B.C. at 3-1.

The Lions, who had the weekend off, host the (1-4) Hamilton Tiger-Cats Thursday night at 7:00.

Western teams are a combined 19-8 while Eastern teams are a combined 4-15.
