PG to have three designated cooling centres during heat wave

Anyone stuck outside during the sweltering heat will have a few options to cool down along Prince George’s downtown core.

Today (Monday), the City of PG confirmed three cooling centres will be open to the public with bottled water and snacks being provided starting tomorrow morning (Tuesday).

Here are the following locations:

  • Central Interior Native Health Society, 1100 4th Avenue, (08:30-16:00 Tues/Thurs/Fri, 13:00-16:00 Wed)
  • The POUNDS Project, 1126 3rd Avenue, (07:00-11:00, 12:00 – 17:00 and 18:00-22:00 Tues – Sun)
  • PG Schizophrenia Society, 1139 6th Avenue, (10:00-16:00, Tues – Fri)

Earlier today (Monday), Environment Canada issued a Heat Warning for the Prince George-Vanderhoof area with temperatures expected to reach into the 30’s.
