Goalie Jamie Walsh of Prince George helped Ireland to a bronze medal in the women’s division at the World Ball Hockey Federation Championships in Pittsburgh.
After going 3-1 in the five team round robin and dropping a 2-0 decision to the USA in the semi-finals, Ireland edged Slovakia 3-2 in the third place game.
During the winter, Walsh plays in net in the PG Open and Masters Ball Hockey Leagues at the PG Roll-a-Dome.

–The Westwood Pub Devils ran their win streak to 32 games (dating back to last year) as they blasted the second place BX Pub Bandits 19-6 in Prince George Senior Lacrosse.
The 8-0 Devils got goals from 10 different players. They have outscored the opposition 138-32, and in two games against the Bandits have outscored them 35-13. BX is in second place at 6-2.
–PG Senior Lacrosse resumes Wednesday night at 8 when the Bandits face the winless Cowboy Ranch Stylers at Kin 1.
–The BCHL is expanding. The league is welcoming Wenatchee, Washington as its 17th team starting in the 2015-16 season. The Wenatchee Wild will join the Mainland Division, which includes the Prince George Spruce Kings. The Wild had been a member of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) for the last seven years and this season averaged about 3,000 fans at home games.
As a U.S.-based club, the Wild will be allowed to roster a maximum of four Canadian players.
Wenatchee becomes the first U.S.-based franchise in the BCHL since the Bellingham Ice Hawks, who operated from 1990 to 1995.
–The Prince George Spruce Kings have re-acquired 20 year old defenseman Stephen Penner from the Trail Smoke Eaters in return for future considerations.
The 6’5” 215 pound Penner, who is from Prince George, was dealt from the Spruce Kings to the Smoke in December (2014).
The Spruce Kings Main Training Camp begins on August 24th at the Coliseum.
–The Prince George Cougars have signed their top three picks from the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft: forward Jackson Leppard, defenceman Jonas Harkins, and forward Tyler Ho to standard WHL player agreements.
Leppard was selected in the first round (eighth overall). Harkins was picked in the 2nd round (29th overall) and Ho was taken in round three (66th overall).
–The Prince George Cougars will have a new look in the 2015-16 season. The Cougars are expected to unveil a new logo during a media conference Wednesday at 11:30 AM at CN Centre (which is open to the public with a barbecue to follow).
