City starting Naloxone pilot project with Bylaw Officers this fall

Prince George’s downtown Bylaw Officers will be trained in administering naloxone this fall.

According to a report by City Director of Public Safety, Adam Davey, this is part of a pilot project.

The intent of the project is to have Bylaw Officers and Outreach  Coordinators trained in administering  naloxone to individuals who may have overdosed on opioids.

This pilot is not intended to absorb duties of BC Ambulance or PG Fire Rescue, but to be used in instances where 911 response may not be as fast as needed.

The purpose is to provide a potential life saving bridge.

The project is intended to start this fall and run for a one-year trial  basis.

Other items to be discussed at tomorrow’s (Monday) city council meeting include a presentation from the Ginter’s Green Forever group, and a potential new subdivision on Ospika Boulevard.
