Canada doubled Switzerland 6-3 in the quarterfinals at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Edmonton.
The (5-0) Canadian team scored four goals in the first period to advance to the semifinals on Friday (1 pm PT) against Czechia.
The Czechs upset the USA 4-2 in the late Wednesday game.

NBA:
LeBron James has come to terms on a two-year, $97.1 million contract extension with the LA Lakers.
The league-maximum deal makes the 37-year-old James the highest-paid player in NBA history.
His new deal includes a player option for the 2024-25 season.

CFL:
Week 11 of the CFL season starts with a pair of Friday games including the (7-1) B.C. Lions at the (5-4) Saskatchewan Roughriders (7:00 PT).
It is the first of a home and home as the two teams also meet on August 26th in Vancouver.
The early Friday game has (2-7) Edmonton at (1-7) Ottawa (4:00).
The Lions have the second-best record in the league, only behind the (9-1) Winnipeg Blue Bombers, who are idle this week.

BC Football Conference:
The (0-3) Prince George Kodiaks play their second ever home game in the BC Football Conference when they entertain the (3-1) Valley Huskers Saturday night at 7:00 at Masich Place Stadium.
The Huskers won the two previous meetings between the teams: 34-17 on Saturday, August 13th, and 31-5 on July 23rd with both of those games in Chilliwack.
(The Kodiaks also have a 35-20 loss to the Kamloops Broncos on August 6th in PG)
