The UNBC Timberwolves men’s basketball team has recruited American big man Austin Chandler for the 2015-16 Canada West season. Chandler, a 6’7 power forward, played the last two years at Wenatchee Valley College.
In the 2014-15 season, Chandler helped his team to a 20-10 record, good for Wenatchee’s first playoff berth in 13 years.

–Two Prince George natives will continue on the international biathlon scene.
Biathlon Canada has named four athletes, including two-time Olympian Megan Heinicke, to its elite A squad that will compete in World Cup competitions in the upcoming season.
In addition, eight more athletes, which includes Sarah Beaudry, will form its B squad that will split time on the IBU Cup and World Cup circuits.
Heinicke is coming off her best season after posting a number of top-15 finishes.
–Former UNBC student Robert “Bo” Hedges (Wonowon, B.C.) is one of 12 men named by Wheelchair Basketball Canada to compete at the Parapan American Games (August 7th to 15th) in Toronto.
The tournament is a direct qualifier for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
–The new look Prince George Cougars are expected to unveil a new logo during their media conference today at 11:30 a.m. at CN Centre. The public is invited to attend. A free barbecue will follow.
