Canada plays Sweden in the quarterfinals today (11:15 a.m. PT Thursday) at the women’s world hockey championship in Denmark.
The winner advances to the semis on Saturday.
The gold medal game will be played on Sunday (10:30 a.m. PT).

The Prince George Cougars begin their 2022 Training Camp tonight (Thursday) at 6:00 at CN Centre.
The four-day camp will conclude with the annual Black and White game Sunday night at 6:00 which is free to the public.

The Cougars will play four pre-season games: Friday, September 9th against Vancouver in Port Coquitlam, Saturday, September 10th against Victoria in Port Coquitlam, Friday, September 16th against the Blazers in Kamloops, and Saturday, September 17th against the Blazers in Prince George.
The regular season opens for the Cougars on Friday, September 23rd when they host the Tri-City Americans.

The Prince George Spruce Kings three-day Training Camp at the Coliseum begins Friday afternoon at 4:00.
The Spruce Kings final scrimmage of camp will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The UNBC Timberwolves host the Victoria Vikes in Canada West men’s soccer Friday and Saturday night at 6:00 at Masich Place Stadium.
Both teams have a tie and a loss after two games.

Chicago Cubs 7 Toronto Blue Jays 5 Â
The Jays begin a 10-game road trip Friday (3:35 PT) against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.
The (70-59) Blue Jays are 3rd in the A.L East and are holding down the third and final
wild-card spot in the American League (behind Tampa Bay and Seattle).

Tennis:
40-year-old Serena Williams has advanced to the third round at the U.S. Open, knocking out the No. 2 seed Anett Kontaveit 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-2.
Williams, a 23-time major champion, is likely playing the final tournament of her 27-year career and will have her next match on Friday against 29-year-old Australian Ajla Tomljanovic, who is ranked 46th.
Canadians Rebecca Marino and Bianca Andreescu both won on Wednesday to advance to round three.
Two other Canadians, Leylah Fernandez and Felix Auger Aliassime lost and have been eliminated.
Denis Shapovalov, who grew up in Greater Toronto, plays his second round match today.

The B.C. Lions have acquired QB Vernon Adams Jr. from the Montreal Alouettes for a first-round pick in next year’s CFL Draft.
The 29-year-old Adams has suited up in 67 CFL games over the past six seasons, 56 of those with the Alouettes and the remaining 11 with Saskatchewan.
