WHL:

The Prince George Cougars play four preseason games with the first two this weekend in Port Coquitlam: tonight (Friday) against Vancouver and Saturday vs. Victoria.

Prince George will also meet the Blazers Friday, September 16th in Kamloops before hosting the Blazers on Saturday, September 17th.

The Cougars are carrying a roster of 30 players: three goalies, eight defencemen, and 19 forwards.

The regular season opens for the Cougars on Friday, September 23rd when they host the Tri-City Americans.

BCHL (preseason game in Merritt)

Merritt Centennials  6  Prince George Spruce Kings  5

The Prince George Spruce Kings have three preseason games left.

They host Merritt on Wednesday and Salmon Arm on Thursday before their final exhibition game on Saturday, September 17th in Salmon Arm.

They open their regular season on the road, Friday, September 23rd at Coquitlam.

The (1-1) UNBC Timberwolves women’s soccer team will host the (0-1) Winnipeg Wesmen tonight (Friday) night at 6:00 and the (2-0) Manitoba Bisons Sunday at noon.

NFL: (First game of the regular season)

Buffalo Bills  31  LA Rams  10

Josh Allen threw three touchdown passes and ran for another as the Bills scored 21 unanswered points in the second half.

CFL:

Week 14 of the CFL season starts tonight (4:30 PT) with the (8-2) B.C. Lions at the (4-7) Montreal Alouettes.

The Lions are 2nd in the West Division, six points behind the (11-1) Winnipeg Blue Bombers and two points in front of the (7-4) Calgary Stampeders.

BC Football Conference: 

The (1-4) PG Kodiaks host the (2-4) Langley Rams Saturday night in the BC Football Conference.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Masich Place Stadium.

MLB:

The Toronto Jays are 6-1 on a 10-game road that will continue tonight (5:05 PT) against the (59-77) Rangers in Texas.

With 26 games left, the (76-60) Blue Jays are 3rd in the A.L East and are holding down the third and final wild-card spot in the American League (behind Tampa Bay and Seattle).

The (72-65) Orioles are 4 1/2 games back of the Jays for a playoff berth.

Tennis:

Top-seeded Iga Swiatek and #5 Ons Jabeur have advanced to the women’s final at the US Open.

Both won their semifinals on Thursday.
