The last week has been a wild ride for Jared Young of Prince George.
The 27-year-old has appeared in four games for the Chicago Cubs since getting called up from AAA Iowa, going 3-for-13 and .batting .231.

Young made his major league debut on Friday in a 2-1 Cubs win over the Colorado Rockies and to MyPGNow.com the whole experience was a bit of a blur.
“In the beginning, I was excited, I was nervous and I was shocked. It was all those things you expected to feel and then once it started happening and I was playing it was exciting and it went by fast.”
“I was lucky enough that I had a good day, we won and everything came together thankfully,” added Young.
Young added it was pretty special to step out onto Wrigley Field and be amongst a major league crowd.
“It was loud, it was a great day – my family and some friends were there and I couldn’t have drawn it up any better than that. I don’t actually have too many words for it honestly.”
The 27-year-old noted that while he is happy with the first few games, finding that little extra remains key.
“You obviously feel like you can do more,” added Young.
“Any baseball player will say that no matter what they are doing more can be done but you also have to stay within yourself to help the team win.”
As for how it feels to be the first PG-born baseball player to crack a Major League Baseball roster, Young stated it’s pretty surreal.
“It’s awesome, it’s been a long ride. I love Prince George and I am very proud to be from there. It has something that has kept me going in some of the hard times.”
The Cubs (63-85), who have 14 games left in their season, continued a six-game road trip tonight with a 2-1 victory in Miami against the Marlins (61-88).
Young went 1-for-4 in the game as the DH.
Chicago ends its season on October 5th in Cincinnati against the Reds (58-90).
