Stop the Spray BC Founder stepping into the Council Race

James Steidle has put his hat into the ring to become a Prince George City Councillor.

Steidle said he’s running to ‘inject some sense into city hall.’

“One of the key plans of our city’s expansion plan is to run a four-lane highway through one of the city’s more popular parks,” Steidle said.

“This area is a huge asset to the city, this is a place that everybody in the city can come and enjoy, and it’s world class. People from all over the world, when they come to Prince George, this is one of the first places they come.”

Steidle added if elected, he would work to protect Ginter’s doing anything he could do.

Steidle previously presented to Prince George City Hall on behalf of the Ginter’s Green Forever Group.

Other things that Steidle said he’s focusing on in his campaign include the financial mismanagement and bad decisions council have made.

“Between a $32 million parkade, the tearing down of the structurally sound Four Seasons Pool, the tearing down of recently renovated Simon Fraser Inn that could have provided low cost housing, we’ve seen tens of millions in unnecessary expenditures, and we still have a hole in the ground and a housing crisis. It’s insane,” he said.

He also wants to put the forestry industry back into the hands of the people of Prince George, and bring a community forest back to the city.

A full list of candidates can be found here.

The municipal election will take place on Saturday, October 15th.
