The Prince George Symphony Orchestra (PGSO) will be kicking off their first full season since the pandemic started with one of Canada’s finest this weekend.
Jane Coop will be headlining the season opening event, she is a prominent Canadian pianist who has played in over 20 countries, and was appointed the Order of Canada in 2012, and the Order of BC in 2019.
“Jane Coop is really one of the finest Canadian pianists alive” said PGSO Maestro Michael Hall. “I have known about her for years, her reputation precedes her. We are very excited for someone of that stature come and play with us and for our audiences to experience.”
She will be performing Camille Saint-SaĂ«ns’ Concerto No. 2, which Hall says is a very dramatic and emotional piece of music.
The PGSO, like many other organizations and activities, is making a full return this fall.
Hall says what stands out about the Orchestra is that “live music is so exciting. What we do is bring great music to the community, and there is something thrilling about a live concert.”
The rest of the season has a wide variety, from opera to adapting local artists’ songs, to kids shows.
“We are hoping we are able to reach a lot of people in the community that may not think of the PGSO right away, but see our program and think ‘wow, that is interesting,'” Hall said.
The season-opening show will be on Saturday (September 24th) at 7:30.
