Motorcycle Toy Run returns for 41st year

The CN Centre parking lot was a loud place this morning (Sunday) as motorcycles filed in for the 41st Annual Motorcycle Toy Run.

“They will put together this event themselves, we’re just the recipients,”  said Roy Law, Community Ministries Director, PG Salvation Army.

Each year, the Salvation Army receives donations and toys from the bikers to put into their Christmas hampers.

Law added there has been a bit of an increase in the need for hampers this year.

“We do see that trend probably happening,” he said.

“As everybody knows, things have inflated right now, and it’s tough for the Average Joe.”

For the event, Law says there is no specific goal in mind when it comes to monetary donations or the number of toys they receive.

“The goal is just to have the community helping the community,” he said.

“This is an awesome event for 41 years already, and every year it happens at this time, every last Sunday of September. They kick off and leave here at 1 o’ clock for their little run and back, and we’re so thankful for what happens from it.”

Law added they will continue to accept donations following the event.
