Ethan Samson named Cougars’ 28th captain

19 year old Ethan Samson flew back into Prince George from Philadelphia Flyers training camp to find a C waiting for him on his jersey.

Samson has spent his whole career with the Cougars, spanning 151 games over the last three seasons. In that time, the defenceman recorded 62 points – 18 goals and 44 assists.

43 of those points came last season, where he finished fourth in team scoring.

“It’s an honour to be recognized by my peers to vote me into this position,” said Samson. “I just want to keep going with the way this team has been lately, keep pushing forward, making strides, and going from there.”

“He’s the most deserving of this honour as he’s got the respect of his teammates and coaching staff,” said GM & Head Coach Mark Lamb.

This season’s alternate captains will be Hudson Thornton, Riley Heidt, and newcomer Chase Wheatcroft.

Samson will play the his first game with the C on his chest tonight at 7:00 in the CN Centre against the Kelowna Rockets.
