WHL:

The Prince George Cougars split a pair of home games for the second straight weekend.

The (2-2) Cougars beat the Kelowna Rockets 6-3 Friday before suffering a 5-1 loss against the Rockets on Saturday.

The Cougars play on the road this week: Friday in Langley against the Vancouver Giants and Saturday in Everett against the Silvertips.

BCHL: 

The Prince George Spruce Kings are off to a 3-1 start after splitting two weekend home games against the Vernon Vipers.

The Spruce Kings won 4-2 on Friday and lost 5-1 on Saturday.

Prince George will host Victoria this Friday and Merritt this Saturday.

BC Elite Hockey League: (BCEHL)

(U18 male)  Cariboo Cougars 2-2 on the season after a pair of wins

Cariboo Cougars  3  Valley West Giants  2  (OT-Saturday)

The U18 Cariboo Cougars are back in action on October 15th and 16th when they host the Thompson Blazers.

(U18 female)

The Northern Capitals are 1-4-1 on the season after they lost three and tied one in their four games played at the league showcase in Surrey.

The Caps tied the Greater Vancouver Comets 2-2 before falling twice to the Fraser Valley Rush 4-0 and 8-1. They were also beaten by the Vancouver Island Seals 2-1.

The Capitals visit the (4-0) Fraser Valley Rush Saturday afternoon at 1:45 and Sunday morning at 8:45 in Langley.

Canada West Soccer:

(Men)

UNBC Timberwolves  0  UBC Thunderbirds  0  (Tie-Saturday)

Michael Henman notched his Canada West-leading 16th goal of the season in the win.

The (6-4-2) UNBC men are in third place out of seven teams in Pacific Division.

They have four regular season games left: at home on Oct 15th and 16th at noon each day against UBCO and on the road at Fraser Valley on Oct 21st and 23rd.

(Women)

The (3-5-2) UNBC women are sixth out of eight teams in the Pacific Division.

They host Calgary on Oct 7th and 8th at noon each day before wrapping up their regular season with home games against TRU on October 14th at 6 PM and against UBCO on October 16th at noon.

BC Football Conference:

Langley Rams  29  Prince George Kodiaks  16  (Saturday in Langley)

The (1-8) Kodiaks conclude their first season with a home game Saturday night at 7:00 at Masich Place Stadium against the (9-0) Okanagan Sun.

Kansas City Chiefs  41  Tampa Bay Buccaneers  31  (Sunday night)

The Chiefs are one of seven teams at 3-1.

The Bucs are one of 13 teams at 2-2.

The Philadelphia Eagles are 4-0 and the only unbeaten team after they erased a 14-0 deficit to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 29-21.

Week four of the NFL season concludes tonight (Monday at 5:15 PT) with the (2-1) LA Rams at the (1-2) San Francisco 49’ers.

CFL:

The (10-4) B.C. Lions are tied with the (10-5) Calgary Stampeders for second in the CFL West Division but the Lions have four regular season games left while the Stampeders have three remaining.

The (13-2) Winnipeg Blue Bombers have a six-point lead in the standings.

B.C. will visit the (8-6) Toronto Argonauts Saturday afternoon at 1:00 (PT) while Calgary is idle this week.

Week 18 of the CFL season begins Friday (4:30 PT) with (6-9) Saskatchewan at (4-10)
Hamilton.

MLB:

Toronto Blue Jays  6  Boston Red Sox  3

The (90-69) Blue Jays, with three regular-season games left,  lead the Wild Card standings by 2 1/2 games over Seattle.

Toronto will visit Baltimore tonight (4:05 PT) while Seattle entertains Detroit (6:40).

Oakland A’s  10  Seattle Mariners  3

Baltimore Orioles  3  New York Yankees  1

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge went 0-for-3 to remain with 61 homers, tied for the American League record that was set by Roger Maris in 1961.

NHL:

The Vancouver Canucks have three preseason games left.

They visit Edmonton tonight (Monday 6:00 PT), host Edmonton Wednesday night at 7:00 and host Arizona Friday night at 7:00.

The Canucks begin their regular season Wednesday, October 12th at Edmonton.
