Canada West Soccer:

The UNBC Timberwolves host the (6-3-1) Calgary Dinos in Canada West women’s soccer today (Friday) and Saturday at noon at Masich Place Stadium.

The (3-5-2) UNBC women are sixth out of eight teams in the Pacific Division.

They conclude their regular season with home games against TRU on October 14th at 6 PM and vs. UBCO on October 16th at noon.

The UNBC men’s soccer team is idle this weekend.

They have four regular season games left: at home on Oct 15th and 16th at noon each day against UBCO and on the road at Fraser Valley on Oct 21st and 23rd.

The (6-4-2) UNBC men are in third place out of seven teams in Pacific Division.

WHL:

The (2-2) Prince George Cougars play their first two road games of the season this weekend.

The Cougars visit the Vancouver Giants tonight (in Langley) and will also face the Silvertips Saturday in Everett.

The (3-1) Prince George Spruce Kings host the Victoria Grizzlies tonight (Friday) and the Merritt Centennials on Saturday at 7:00.

BC Elite Hockey League: (BCEHL)

The (1-4-1) U18 female Northern Capitals visit the (4-0) Fraser Valley Rush Saturday afternoon at 1:45 and Sunday morning at 8:45 in Langley.

The Capitals are 1-4-1 on the season.

The (2-2) U18 Cariboo Cougars are back in action on October 15th and 16th when they host the Thompson Blazers.

NHL:

The NHL regular season will begin in Prague as the Nashville Predators and the San Jose Sharks meet in a doubleheader today (Friday) and Saturday (11 a.m. PT each day).

The Vancouver Canucks host the Arizona Coyotes tonight at 7:00 in their final preseason game.

Vancouver is 1-3-2 in six exhibition games.

The Canucks begin their regular season Wednesday against the Oilers in Edmonton.

The NHL season in North America starts Tuesday.

MLB:

The Toronto Blue Jays host the Seattle Mariners this afternoon (1:07 PT) in Game one of their best-of-three series.

The two teams also meet Saturday (1:07 PM PT), plus Sunday (11:07 AM PT) if necessary in Toronto.

The winner will advance to face the top-seeded Houston Astros in the best-of-five AL Division Series that will begin on Tuesday.

Indianapolis Colts  12  Denver Broncos  9  (OT)

The game had no touchdowns and several turnovers.

The Colts are 2-2-1 while the Broncos sit 2-3.

CFL:

Week 18 of the CFL season begins tonight (Friday 4:30 PT) with (6-9) Saskatchewan at (4-10) Hamilton.

The B.C. Lions visit the (8-6) Toronto Argonauts Saturday afternoon at 1:00 (PT).

The (10-4) Lions are tied with the (10-5) Calgary Stampeders for second in the CFL West Division behind the (13-2) Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

BC Football Conference:

The (1-8) Prince George Kodiaks conclude their first season in the BC Football Conference with a home game Saturday night at 7:00 at Masich Place Stadium against the (9-0) Okanagan Sun.
